Manager, Individual Giving

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County was the first museum in L.A. to open its doors 107 years ago and is poised for an exciting new era as it plans for the future. Having recently completed a new strategic framework, the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County—including NHM at Exposition Park, La Brea Tar Pits and museum in mid-Wilshire, and the William S. Hart Museum in Newhall—is looking forward to new building projects and campaigns, exhibitions, community outreach, and innovative audience engagement. 

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Manager, Individual Giving for our Advancement department.  The Manager, Individual Giving will report to the Director, Individual Giving and is responsible for implementing a strategy to retain and acquire Fellows, develop individualized upgrade strategies, and manages all aspects of the Fellows membership program including acquisition, renewal, upgrade, events, communication, recognition, acknowledgments, site visits or donor tours, special concierge requests, and donor stewardship in order to meet the annual Fellows revenue goal at the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC). It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: 

  1. Implements acquisition and upgrades solicitation campaigns that work in tandem with the overall Fellows membership and major gifts strategies manages marketing plans to meet revenue goals and creates reports to track all campaign solicitations.
  2. With guidance from colleagues in Advancement, EE&P, and M&C, carry out strategies and events to secure renewals, acquire new members, cultivate and steward existing members and donors for additional gifts, ensuring a filled 12­ month calendar of events/programs.
  3. In collaboration with Fellows Coordinator, delivers consistent and timely communication to Fellows and Fellows prospects (including letters, phone calls, emails, newsletters) and implements communication tools to promote the Fellows program that are consistent with the department's strategic goals and are aligned with the Museum's brand. 
  4. Maximize CRM capacity and ensure that onsite and online donor experiences run smoothly through Galaxy software and CRM plug-ins, while properly documenting all interactions with a donor or prospect in a manner that is easily accessible by other Advancement staff members.
  5. Updates and ensures the Museum's website is updated and easy to navigate as it relates to the Fellows program and the acquisition and retention of Fellows members. Ensures the proper implementation, maintenance and updating of the Galaxy Web Store for the acquisition, renewal, and upgrade of Fellows, including event RSVP's.


Requirements

This position has the following requirements: 

  • Communication: Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Database Management: Knowledge and understanding of donor databases.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, ideally in a related field.
  • 2 to 3 years membership and annual giving, or major gift fundraising experience.
  • Experience working directly with donors, boards or trustees in a non­profit setting.

Salary range for this position is $69,000.00 - $72,000.00 with experience plus excellent benefits. This is a full-time regular, exempt position.
