Summary: 

The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) seeks a visitor engagement coordinator to oversee all the aspects of the visitor experience at the museum, including front door greeting, admission transactions, and processing retail transactions. Are you passionate about museums and visual arts? Important Details to Know: 

• Compensation: $17-19/hour 
• Shift/Hours: Wednesday – Sunday 10:00am – 5:30pm, Thursday 10:30am -7:30pm with occasional evening hours as needed. 
• Job Type: full-time/non-exempt

Here is what you will get to do: 

1. Open and close SMoCA admissions and Retail including cash drawer management and settling out reports. 

2. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for all guests, whether internal staff or external visitors by phone or in person, including resolving conflict in a professional and courteous manner, with a high level of sensitivity and attention to detail. 

3. Get in depth understanding on our current, upcoming and past exhibitions in order to be able to answer questions and solve issues that occur at Visitor Desk and with guests and staff. 

4. Provides support for SMoCA special events and programs outside of normal museum operating hours, as needed and assigned.

7. Facilitate SMoCA retail point of sale with visitors. 

8. Provide retail support functions including floor restocking, back stockroom, straightening and cleaning, pulling online orders, installing creative displays of retail merchandise. 

Requirements

 Here is what you will need to be successful: 

1. Education: Associate degree or equivalent years of experience 

2. Experience: 1+ years of experience in Museums with administrative support, and 1-2 years of customer service experience 

3. Attributes: 

· Knowledge of and appreciation for contemporary art; 

· Exceptional organizational skills; 

· Strong written and verbal communication; 

· Ability to work in a collaborative team environment; 

· Experience handling cash, check and credit card transactions accurately and with integrity. 

· Ability to multi-task, working simultaneously on numerous short-term and long-range projects; 

4. Work Environment: SMoCA is a fast paced and team focused environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
